GA4 Property Names for BigQuery

A small Chrome extension that makes GA4 BigQuery exports easier to work with. It annotates every analytics_<property_id> dataset in the Google Cloud Console with the human-readable GA4 property display name, so you no longer have to memorise numeric IDs.

What it does

• Reads the list of Google Analytics 4 properties visible to the signed-in user via the Google Analytics Admin API.
• Stores the resulting dataset ID → display name mapping locally in the browser.
• On pages under console.cloud.google.com, adds a small blue badge next to any element whose text matches a known analytics_<id> dataset ID, containing the display name of the matching GA4 property.
• Supports manual overrides and bulk import/export for datasets the GA4 Admin API does not cover (e.g. Firebase exports, custom-named datasets).

How permissions are used

• OAuth scope analytics.readonly — read-only access used exclusively to call the Admin API endpoint accountSummaries.list and obtain property IDs and display names. No other Analytics data is read or written.
• Host permission https://console.cloud.google.com/* — required so the content script can insert the display-name badges into the BigQuery UI.
• storage — to persist the property-name mapping and any manual overrides in chrome.storage.local.
• identity — to obtain a Google OAuth token through the Chrome Identity API.
• alarms — to schedule a daily background refresh of the property-name mapping.
